Welcome to the Marathon Animal Rescue OREGON CAMPAIGN!
The Covid 19 Pandemic has taken its toll on our society and our humanity. Personally, I have been limited to travel to or participate in events to raise awareness for rescues across the country as has been my mission. Sadly, abandoned, lost, stray, abused and unwanted animals are still in need. Many pets that were adopted during the pandemic last year are now being put back in rescues as people have gone back to work and are not caring for these new pets. It is time for us to support the life saving efforts of two no-kill animal rescue organizations this year!
My name is Rick Albanese and I am a ultramarathon runner with a goal of running a marathon or ultramarathon in all 50 States and making financial contributions to specially selected non-profit, no-kill animal rescues and sanctuaries in each State I visit across the country.
I began this charity as a Rescue Dog owner and strong advocate for adoption of all animals through no-kill rescue organizations. I have rescued 5 dogs myself and grew up with many more rescue dogs in my family as well. I will kick off the charity campaign with my own pledge donation of $5 per mile X 50 miles for this marathon distance totaling $250 with a minimum goal of raising at least $600.
After careful consideration and research I have selected two non-profit, no kill rescue organizations to support in this campaign. The Cascade Canine Rescue groups is a network of volunteers that saves animals from urgent situations and overcrowded high kill shelters and then places animals in foster and permanent homes. This organization also provides vaccinations and education to the local community. The Humane Society of the Ochocos provides shelter, veterinary care and makes adoption efforts to place rescued animals in forever homes and keeps adoptable animals until they can be placed. This organization also provides important community services and education to counteract overpopulation.
