Welcome to the Marathon Animal Rescue
PENNSYLVANIA CAMPAIGN!
This special "Liberty Bell
Challenge" combining 2 days of racing a half and full marathon was a race I was scheduled to complete in 2023. I deferred entry to 2024 due to injury and things got progressively worse on a very
personal level as I was diagnosed with Lyphoma Cancer in February 2024 and was unable to run or train for over close to 6 months of treatment. I have been cured and am back training in a very
deliberate and determined manner for this special challenge. Philly knows all about underdog fighters and comebacks and I look forward to writing my own real life comeback story in November!!
This comeback story is not just about me as I am running once again in support the life saving efforts of a great no-kill animal rescue organization.
My name is Rick Albanese and I am a ultramarathon runner with a goal of running a marathon or ultramarathon in all 50 States and making financial contributions to specially selected non-profit, no-kill animal rescues and sanctuaries in each State I visit across the country.
I began this charity as a Rescue Dog owner and strong advocate for adoption of all animals through no-kill rescue organizations. I have rescued 5 dogs myself and grew up with many more rescue dogs in my family as well. I will kick off the charity campaign with my own pledge donation of $5 per mile X 39.3 miles for this marathon distance totaling $200 with a minimum goal of raising at least $1500.
After careful consideration and research I have selected an amazing non-profit, no kill rescue organization to support in this campaign. The Morris Animal Refuge was founded in 1874 and has continued to grow and currently has a 98% save rate for all animals that come through the shelter. This organization is a leader in humane animal welfare services providing for medical care, behavioral training and adoptions or homeless animals. The Morris Animal Refuge provides shelter, veterinary care and makes adoption efforts to place rescued animals in forever homes and keeps adoptable animals until they can be placed.
As always ALL DONOR CONTACT INFORMATION IS KEPT CONFIDENTIAL.
Also there are no follow up lists, solicitations from Marathon Animal Rescue or the selected state individual
animal rescues. Marathon Animal Rescue is IRS approved 501(c)(3)
charity EIN#47-1226338.
